Valentines Range Available

Well, poor ol Cupid gets a little hammering at this time of year, with Valentines Day coming up PLUS in these warm summer months *cough..what summer?* filling up with couples tying the knot, and then catching the love bug and getting engaged...poor guy!

We're helping to ease his load by spreading his good word with cupcakes of course.

The novelty never wears off for us when we hear the squeals of delight from people who receive our cupcakes that have been delivered to them as a surprise. Sending baked goods is a form of PDA that doesn't generally make others in the workplace cringe, or throw up a little in their mouths because sometimes they get to share in the excitement, and steal one for them too! Sharing is caring.

We already have orders placed from thoughtful managers and employers who are wanting to sweeten up their staff/team, which really does soften the blow when poor Suzie at reception, and Frank in the mail room are receiving giant bunches of flowers all day only to hand over to others..*sigh*

V-Day can often be a bit of a down time for single folk, so its great when we see peeps popping in to treat themselves, why should you miss out? Nah, you shouldn't, and it will make you happy on the inside, you cant eat/afford a single red rose on days like this. Ahhh..warm fuzzies of self love.

Flavours this year are some popular favourites, re-designed with the look of luuurve:

Rich chocolate cupcake topped with a decadent chocolate ganache

Red Velvet cupcake topped with irresistible cream cheese frosting

Vanilla topped with Strawberry frosting made from real succulent strawberries

As always, Baked from scratch with love and hand finished, presented in a white cake box with sturdy insert so they arrive safe and sound. Delivered by hand to you or your loved ones.

Our second oven that we got before xmas has saved our bacon, and to ensure that the V-Day cupcakes are baked with EXTRA love, we'lll be sure to torture..um...err, I mean 'treat' our team with some soppy love favs from our ipods while baking and boxing all the orders... Don't tell her, but I think that Sophie is beginning to secretly love a bit of Kenny & Dolly's 'Islands in the Stream'..heck..who doesn't??!!  Jessie however won't warm to my beloved Dave Dobbyn...I ask her 'Shouldn't you outta be in love?, wouldn't you outta be in love?' but she wont have a bar of it - but she did however give in a little to my Pete Murray. Poor Nikki probably won't know what has hit her.

You can order online, we have added a 'Valentines' tab to the front page of the site.

Will blog again when we have surfaced from the kitchen next!

Crafty Christmas

We love trawling markets in our spare time, and were so inspired by many things and ideas, and other general enthusiasm for handmade, that we decided we would somehow find some spare time, and unleash some craftiness around our homes this Christmas.

There is such a sense of achievement when a little idea or vision becomes reality, I can't count the number of times I look at things I see out and about, or online, and think 'I could do that' - I'm going to make a wee resolution to actually pull finger and make it happen...and luckily we've had a wee kick start this xmas.

Kathryn's wee 4yr old was also bitten by the craft bug, and lovingly picked out buttons and beads to design some felt decorations for nearly every family member and friend, whilst Kathryn had the painstaking job of sewing them all on - but they had to be in the exact place he'd chosen! For a little man who doesn't usually sit still, It was neat to see him get so into it, and I have a sneaky suspicion that Chrissy crafting may be a new tradition, so it will be interesting to watch his decorations change over the years!

I don't know whether it was my love of the smell of it, or just how generally cute they look, but I developed a wee Gingerbread obsession.

I started out wanting to make decorations for the tree, then dreamt up a gingerbread garland for above the fireplace...and just kind of kept going...

I decided to tackle a Gingerbread house! It was loads of fun, and will definitely be a little project for me each year I think. I started simple, but I'm already dreaming up next years more pimped version!

I was on a mission to find some rustic string to attach to my gingerbread men, but then I may've gone a tad overboard....I ended up finding a GIANT ball of twine, and decided to find myself more projects to apply it to! Pyramid Trees, a Wreath, Bows...you name it...if it requires string, I'm there with my ball!  No fancy ribbon for our xmas pressies - nope, they have string bows instead!

So following on from the string...this leads us to the tale of the three Wreaths...I was always sceptical about hanging a wreath on the front door, I always thought they'd be stolen or have their baubles ripped off...hmm...I shouldve listened to my gut!

Wreath One: I thought was a good balance of delicious and rustic, it proudly hung on the front door looking christmassy and inviting for a glorious two days.

Wreath Two: You may note that this one has a 'Gobbled look'...hmmmm.... 'Someone' seemed to be a tad intrigued and decided to have a wee nibble! This may or may not have occurred at the end of the Delish Xmas party after some cocktails were drunk directly from the 'classy' drink fountain and 'someone's' shoe went for a wee tumble down the stairs shortly before them...but I couldn't possibly confirm that!   The rain and birds then decided to give the remaining gingerbread a bit of a battering

Wreath Three: The modified wreath as it stands. A half eaten felt gingerbread man that was a great market find, has been firmly attached, fake candycanes, and just to tempt fate, one lonely last Gingerbread heart...

how long will this one last? Place your bets...

And I've saved the best for last..Kathryns Knitted Tinsel!

She spent many an evening falling asleep with knitting needles in hand. She has been known to knit many a funky scarf, and in a moment of genius, she decided to knit some tinsel!  She hasnt seen it anywhere, and I've suggested she get it straight onto Pinterest, so she can have bragging rights, and all the cool crafters follow suit for next year!  It really adds warmth to the tree that shiny tinsel just doesn't omit. Love love love it!

So there we have it, a completely cupcake free zone at our homes...other things handmade with love instead.

Let us know if you have started some crafting traditions in your homes, and how many of your houses will be smelling of gingerbread!

We hope you have a safe and happy holiday with your loved ones, and we might see you instore tomorrow for your last cupcake fix before we close tomorrow at 4.00pm and re-open on 9th of January 2012.

Holiday Season Hours

We have been overwhelmed by the love shown for our cupcakes of late, particularly our Christmas Range. Its been great to have been part of morning tea surprises for hard working peeps, corporate xmas parties, special gifts, and everything in between, but we need to give ourselves a wee break, otherwise we may quite possibly fall apart!

The many many long hours on our feet on a hard concrete floor in the kitchen are catching up with us, and taking quite the toll on our bodies. The fatigue is setting in, we are forgetting the most ridiculous things, making mad dashes to suppliers and promptly forgetting what we're there for, falling asleep in our cars in embarrassing places ie outside the supermarket, outside our houses....and please don't even ask us if we've got all of our xmas shopping done.

So needless to say, we are looking forward to our wee break! It'll be great to not have our alarms set for the middle of the night, to spend some quality time with our families, get out and enjoy summer, and not nod off at inappropriate times! Then when we return in the New Year, we'll be super refreshed and have more exciting cupcake related surprises up our sleeves.

The Shop will be closed Christmas Day, and will re-open Monday the 9th January 2012.

If any online orders happen to be placed, we will not be available to confirm your order and arrange dispatch until after our return....so fingers crossed there are no cupcake emergencies, and you are busy indulging in other treats over the season :)

We hope you all have a lovely break yourselves, and if you are working through behind the scenes, thank you...we appreciate all the little elves!

In the meantime...better get onto our baking and delivery schedule for the morning..eeek!
